Weaning meal planning: 6 months

After completing Ella’s kitchen recommendations for veg led weaning over the first two weeks, we are now integrating weaning foods into family cooking.

NB this is my personal food diary and not a particular recommendation. Please see resources eg NHS for official guidance on weaning.

Day 1:
Vegetable tray bake with carrots, potatoes, squash and broccoli. Added chickpeas (if vegan), halloumi (for vegetarians) or chicken thighs.
Baby: steamed carrots, potato, squash and broccoli. Blended into a purée

Day 2
Lentil and sausage stew, with onions, carrots and red peppers.
Weaning: cooked lentils, carrots and peppers. Purée

Day 3
Spinach and paneer curry with brown rice
Weaning: spinach, sautéed onion and brown rice. Purée

Day 4
Stir fry cauliflower with edamame, baby sweet corn and green pepper
Weaning: steamed cauliflower and baby sweet corn. Purée

Day 5
Salmon, sweet potato and potato and dill fish cakes and steamed broccoli
Weaning: cooked sweet potato, potato and broccoli. Purée

Day 6
Ramen with spinach, cabbage, spring onion and marinated eggs. Optional prawns
Weaning: cooked cabbage, spinach and plain cooked noodles (no sauce or broth). Can add half a plain boiled egg. Purée

Day 7
Pasta with fennel and sausage ragú
Weaning: steam tomatoes and remove skins. Steam chopped fennel. Add a few leaves fresh oregano. Blend all together. Can add a few pieces well cooked pasta before blending.
